About
Joahnna Bell, MHS, CPHQ, CPPS, is the Vice President of Clinical Advisory & Support Services. She is a seasoned healthcare leader with over 20 years overseeing quality improvement, data reporting, and accreditation activities in healthcare organizations, including 16 years at hospitals and integrated health systems and 7 years in ambulatory, home health & hospice. She earned her Master’s degree in Health Finance & Management from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2003 and worked for the Mass General Brigham Health System in Massachusetts where she helped develop and manage the balanced scorecard at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
A subject matter expert in regulatory quality reporting and performance measurement, she brings deep expertise in quality metrics, data analysis, and translating complex performance data into actionable insights. She is skilled at partnering with administrative, clinical, and operational leaders to understand how quality performance intersects with clinical outcomes, operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and organizational performance. Additionally, she has experience at multiple health systems in designing and implementing HRO (High Reliability Organization) structures that drive improved healthcare quality and patient safety. She is both a CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) and a CPPS (Certified Professional in Patient Safety).
Experience
- Led quality improvement, data reporting, accreditation, and performance measurement activities across hospital, health system, ambulatory, home health, and hospice settings.
- Directed systemwide healthcare quality programs, including regulatory reporting, quality dashboards, data validation, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Managed regulatory quality reporting programs involving CMS, The Joint Commission, MassHealth, ORYX, eCQMs, core measures, value-based purchasing, readmissions, hospital-acquired conditions, and Star Ratings.
- Partnered with administrative, clinical, operational, analytics, IT, compliance, coding, CDI, patient safety, and finance stakeholders to support aligned quality strategy.
- Supported high reliability organization initiatives, serious safety event classification, patient safety improvement, risk management, and accreditation readiness.
- Developed and managed a hospital balanced scorecard used to align clinical, operational, financial, and strategic performance measures.
